Joseph A. Haydu, Jr., D.O.

Dr. Haydu received his B.S. and M.S. in Biological Science from Stanford University and his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. After an internship at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, he completed his residency at the Metropolitan Medical Center in St. Louis, MO in 1990 where he later became the Chief Surgery Resident. From 1990-2004 he served as a General Surgeon in several practices, including Crusader Surgical, P.S. Following a year of Cardiac Surgery Fellowship, he entered his Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Deborah Heart and Lung Institute in Browns Mills, NJ. Dr. Haydu joined Delaware Bay Surgical Service in 2006 where he focuses on treatment of venous disorders.

Dr. Haydu is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association. He has played several roles in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons from 1992-1998 and the Northern Virginia Medical Society form 1996-2000. He has served on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society and the Physicians Life Alliance. Dr. Haydu is Board Certified in General and Vascular Surgery.

Mayer Katz, M.D.

Dr. Katz is a Board Certified Vascular Surgeon with over 40 years experience. He received his bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After a surgical internship at the University of California Hospital, he completed his residency at the Boston City Hospital in 1967. That same year, Dr. Katz became an Instructor of Surgery at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. From 1971-1984 he held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Rockford, IL. Since 1990, Dr. Katz has been working as the Director of the Vascular Lab at Beebe Medical Center.

He served in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and received the Soldiers Medal in April 1968 for removing an M79 grenade from a soldier in the 101st Airborne Division. He served with the 3rd Medical Battalion 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam. He is a member of the Medical Society of Delaware. His society affiliations include American Board of Surgery, American College of Surgeons, Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery, Eastern Vascular Society, Society for Vascular Surgery, and Midwestern Vascular Society. His publications have been primarily related to carotid artery surgery.
